Well, we're still struggling to keep this page anything like up to date. Most of our effort is going into our new magazine, the Drinker's Alemanac. But some of you will be viewing this site from a long way away and won't have access to our little mag, so we'll do what we can here.

The main news for non-residents is that the Crescent, close to Salford University, has survived and it's very much business as usual, despite the retirement of long-time licensee, Idy Phillips. It still offers a fine line-up of cask ales, usually 7, plus real cider, real orange juice (freshly squozen before your very eyes) and a multiplicity of bottled beers. There's still good value food too, including the famous Wednesday night curries.

If you're visiting the Crescent, you'll probably travel past our Regional Pub of the Year, the [image] This links to an external site over which we have no control New Oxford, on [image] This links to an external site over which we have no control Bexley Square, just off Chapel Street. This former Vaux pub has been completely revamped and relaunched in recent years and become a well respected showcase for beers from micro breweries, with usually 14 ales to choose from.
